Highlights of renewable energy integration impact : Evolution and perspectives in Romania

In a continuously developing society, energy represents the key needful factor ensuring its progress. Thus, designing sustainable systems to supply energy requirements in all economy fields is a crucial target nowadays, when reduced environmental impact is imposed. This paper analyzes the CO2 emissions evolution in Romania, in correlation with energy supply structure and consumption trends for the heat and electricity sectors. The European and global trends are depicted to observe the classification of Romania in wider frameworks. It is highlighted that the CO2 emissions at national level (particularly in Romania) show a decreasing slope, as a consequence of high renewable energy contributions in meeting the energy balance. As the generating capacities installed in renewable power plants are extending, the prospects of strong reductions in harmful emissions are therefore feasible.
