Modification of Pocket Camera as A Sensor for UAV-Based Plant Health Detection System

This work is intended to modify the pocket-size digital camera with a DIY (Do It Yourself) Filter Analysis Kit. This modification purpose is to improve the standard pocket-size digital camera to be able to record a plant health then the camera can be carried by UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). This research use CANON IXUS 145 brand for keeping low cost. The Super-blue and Red Infragramfilter from the Public Lab has used for additional filter. Plant health visual testing was carried out by comparing field observation data and leaf samples. Data processing uses ImageJ's open source software for NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) analysis. The NDVI information is verified with field observation data. There were nine plants used in the field samples, which were Papaya, Rice, Sugar Cane, Chili, and Melon. Testing is done by visual interpretation of the plant's healthy condition and unhealthy conditions using parameters of plant height, stem size, and number of leaves. This work concludes the results of field verification provide information on eight field samples passed the test of the nine sample data used. Eight samples that passed showed a fairly high plant object with lots of lush leaves. Samples that do not pass are melons which are relatively small and have relatively little leaves.
