Security Enhancement in Smart Home Management Through Multimodal Biometric and Passcode

The Internet of Things (IoT) perceives the principle of communicating real-world objects globally and controlling them via the Internet. This idea can be better applied when it comes to smart home management to make it secure, safer and automated. Home automation also relates to the remote control and monitoring of the entire home management. With the advancement and rise of the internet and its technologies, there is a significant amount of opportunity and scope for remote access and tracking of such networked devices. Home automation for IoT devices has become increasingly popular. Nonetheless, this environment's heterogeneous, complex, and Internet-connected existence adds new issues when private information is accessible often without the knowledge of householders. Along with the growing threats of data security and privacy breaches, this accessibility makes smart home security a crucial issue that deserves attention. In this paper an overall view of the security issues and challenges faced by the smart home is presented, and also related security measures are discussed. This paper proposes a framework for a biometrics door locking device with face detection and a fingerprint scanner along with a passcode, for automated identification and authentication of the individual.
