Development of a Communication Test Bed for Electric Vehicle Charging

A smooth and safe charging of Electric Vehicle (EV) is ensured by the well-defined communication process in the charging infrastructure. The electrical charging is supplemented by communication between EV and Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). A communication test bed for analyzing EV-EVSE data exchange is proposed here. The message transaction among the EV and EVSE units are based on CAN protocol adhering to GB/T standard. The hardware implementation of the test bed is discussed in detail, the message exchanges during EV charging are emulated and results are presented.
