Adaptive Design for 2D Optical Coding PON Link Health Detection System in Complex Environment

We investigate the impact of central wavelength variation of the FBG encoder induced by complex environment on the link state recognition for the deployed 2D optical coding PON link health detection system. The transmission model of the failure-detecting light pulse considering environmental factors, mainly the temperature variation, is established. A tunable laser based temperature compensation scheme is proposed reducing the power variation obtained by monitoring the reflection signal and the central wavelength mismatch induced by environmental factors. The experimental results show that the measured power variation of the link state signal is consistent with the theoretical results, and a compensation range from -35 °C to 80 °C is achieved while the power variation ratio of link state signal is from 0.96 to 1.11.
