Li-Fi: The Future Propagation of Wireless Power Transfer in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

This article presents the application of Li-Fi technology in the future propagation of wireless power transmission (WPT) in relation to vehicular ad hoc networks. WPT is the driving technology that will allow the next stage in the current consumer electronics revolution, including passive RF identification (RFID), battery-less sensors, the IoT, passive wireless sensors, and machine-to-machine solutions. The bid to reduce fossil fuels, greenhouse gas emission, and climatic variations brought about the development of electric vehicles. These electric vehicles can be mobile and autonomous. This paper seeks to address the following question: is it possible to design a system that wirelessly transfers power using Lasers attached to the Road Side Unit (RSU) across a road to charge mobile electric vehicles? An innovative idea is conceptualized, presented, and analyzed in this paper to show the possibility of Wireless Power Transfer Vehicle Adhoc (WPTVadhoc) network communication.
