Current Situation and Countermeasures of Investment and Financing in Water Environment Protection

With the implementation of the Action Plan for Water Pollution Prevention and Control, China's water pollution prevention and control work has been intensified, and investment for water pollution prevention and control has been increasing. However, compared with the improvement of water environment quality, there is still a certain gap between investment scale and capital requirements, and there are problems such as insufficient total investment, unclear main responsibility, imperfect market mechanism, and imperfect investment management system. Suggestions are made from the following aspects, such as increase central and local government input at various levels and through multiple channels, strictly implement corporate pollution control responsibilities, speed up the improvement of market-oriented investment and financing mechanisms, vigorously develop green finance, establish a performance-based funding mechanism, and develop a clearer investment and financing roadmap based on investment needs.
