The KCH 1000 a multi-standard HDTV camera system

As part of a technology program of the BTS Darmstadt, an HDTV camera for use in the future HDTV studio and outside broadcast van has been developed. As the HDTV production standard is still undefined the development is based on a flexible concept allowing later adaptation to various scanning formats, within the boundary conditions physically defined. Some examples for possible scanning modes are 1250/50/2:1, 1125/60/2:1 and 1050/59.94/2:1. The camera includes mixed-field-high resolution camera tubes, a dynamic knee processor and a digital two-dimensional aperture and contour correction unit. All critical analog signal processors are stabilized by reference pulses. Registration and shading alignment is done fully automatically with the help of a test projector in the zoom lens, and lateral chromatic errors are compensated depending on the lens setting parameters. The KCH 1000 is equipped with all the usual studio audio and intercom features. The computer-aided operation uses a serial data bus, which can be extended for the operation of several cameras from one master control panel.<>
