Computation tool to improve teaching-learning process in course of Image Processing in Mechatronic Engineering

This article shows the use of a computer tool to improve the teaching-learning process in a learning unit of the Advanced Signal Processing course. This course belongs to the eighth semester of the Mechatronic Engineering Degree, at the Ricardo Palma University, Lima, Peru. Then, with the experience in the dictation of this course for 8 consecutive years, a didactic manual was developed using the Matlab software and the Image Processing Toolbox, with the objective of imparting topics of basic spatial processing, improvement, smoothing, morphological and geometric transformations, and edge detection, depending on the content of the syllable. In this way, the students used the manual as a support to develop simulations such as: pattern recognition, improvement of medical images, etc. Then, with the averages of the evaluations of the laboratory tasks, the performance of the students was represented with a trend graph whose slope was 0.3391.
