Scheduling Protocol for Throughput Maximization in Borrowing-Aided Energy Harvesting System

In this letter, we present a novel energy scheduling protocol that involves power allocation and designing of energy borrowing and energy-returning schedules. To maximize the sum-throughput over the transmission deadline, we propose a water-filling based decoupling methodology to global optimally solve the underlying non-convex problem. This algorithm has shown to have low complexity and achieve the jointly global optimal solution. Numerical simulations have verified the analytical claims, and we have demonstrated an overall throughput gain of 10% over the benchmark scheme.
