Armature Voltage Control: A Modus Operandi for Speed Control of DC motor employing 1phase Full Converter Drives

Control characteristics of a DC motor has a gargantuan impact on industries and applications related to day to day life. With an upsurge in the usage of power electronic components in regulating motor speed, a full converter operating in single-phase model using thyristors have been designed to regulate the DC motor speed using the most extensively used method of Armature Voltage control. This paper presents the mathematics behind speed control and verifies it with a state-space model. A Simulink model has also been presented along with graphs which represent a time response characteristic between Speed, Armature Current and Electrical Torque.
