Intelligent Management of the Hot Rolling Mill Influence of the Automation System on Hot Rolling Parameters

The complex Rolling Mill Process requires a rigorous and Intelligent Management. In this paper the authors envisaged the management of the Hot Rolling Mill in Galati County. At the finishing mill exit the hot strip receives the final values of thickness, width, flatness, mechanical properties and appearance topology. The automation system of the finishing train, manages the Rolling Mill process through a hierarchical structure. Through the execution elements, i.e. the hydraulic motors and stations, the desired final physical sizes of the strip will be provided. The reference values of the rolling mill process are provided from the mathematical model and a rolling scheme. The hierarchical control system is composed of two levels of automation, that communicate with each other, each level making calculations and adjustments in the appropriate loop according to well-defined algorithms. The feedback of each control loop is ensured from the adequate sensors and the transducers and they are compared with the reference values in order to obtain the physical realization of the hot mill process. All sizes are carefully monitored and recorded continuously in a database, both the initial and final ones. The hierarchical architecture of the rolling line is provided in the Second Section. The Settings of the specific parameters on the Hot Rolling Mill Process from Galati County is shown in the third Section. The operation of the cooling system is performed through the specific case study, as shown in the fourth Section. The conclusion is provided in the last Section.
