Half-meshed and fully-meshed suspended graphene for transport gap engineering

We report on successful fabrication of large-area suspended graphene nanomesh (GNM) by using the helium ion beam milling (HIBM) technique. By positioning the meshed area on the suspended graphene, a heterostructure composed of graphene nanoribbon and GNM is demonstrated. Increased driving current with a wider transport gap is observed for the heterostructure devices in contrast to a fully meshed devices.
