Obtaining of Activated Carbon using Chemical Activation with KOH

The objective of this paper is producing an active carbon based on wasted biomass, including chemical activation with KOH. Activation with KOH of carbonaceous materials is considered to be an extremely promising method of producing "HighTech" activated carbon. The texture parameters of the obtained activated carbon are determined by low-temperature nitrogen adsorption. It was found that they are with well expressed adsorption-desorption characteristics. The obtained samples were determined also by pH and IEP. As a result of the experimental studies, obtaining of a material with high surface area was produced, which can be used as absorbents in liquid and gas phases, catalysts, for electrochemical, biochemical and other specific applications.
