III-V on SOI distributed feedback laser with very low frequency chirp for 10 Gb/s C-band access network

We report on a directly modulated III-V/Silicon C-band distributed feedback laser with a high quality factor design. This design has its chirp reduced, thus the reach of 10 Gbit/s directly modulated lasers was extended to 20 km with a dynamic extinction ratio of 7.9 dB.
