Comparative Performance Analysis of Various Control Algorithms for Quadrotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle System and Future Direction

Quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicle has been the prominent platform in the research area of the control system as its under-actuated design and unsymmetrical nature make it absolute to amalgam and scrutinize control algorithm. Various control algorithm has been explained and investigated by different researchers, through which we observed merits and demerits of these algorithms as per their characteristics. Further, we came to know about Linear Quadratic Regulator and Proportional Integral Derivative controller where both of them used in hybrid form to void each others shortcoming. Similarly, we also integrate Sliding Mode Controller and Backstepping control to stabilize the Quadrotor performance. For getting better response and orientation of Quadrotor, several artificial computing techniques have incorporated in the philosophy of quadrotor that is Fuzzy Logic and an Artificial Neural Network. Adaptive Control Algorithms are applied to adapt the change in various parameters either uncertain or varying with time. The design of robust control algorithm was introduced to handle disturbances as well as the uncertainty of the system in a prescribed range. Concept of Optimal Controller was introduced to get better cost function and reduced variable and also for converting the non-linear system to linear system, Feedback linearization used. In the UAV system, still, there is lots of scope of improvement as well as the requirement of new algorithms. Here we are trying to compare all the controller algorithms and provide some suggestions for future prospective.
