Cracking Failure Analysis on Waste Heat Boiler Tube

One of the tubes in the waste heat boiler cracked in use. In this paper, energy spectrum analysis, metallographic analysis, scanning electron microscope analysis and other methods were used to analyze the causes of cracking of tube. The results of energy spectrum analysis show that the composition of the material meets the requirements of relevant standards. The results of energy spectrum analysis show that there are S and Cl elements which can cause stress corrosion of austenitic stainless steel on the outer surface and fracture of the tube. The results show that the cracking is caused by stress corrosion.
