A Field Experiment and Analysis for Islanding Operation of PV Power Stations

With the large amount of investments in PV power generation systems in recent years, the unplanned islanding operation has become an increasingly prominent issue. This article introduces the causes and adverse effects of the islanding operation, briefly analyzes the traditional passive and active islanding detection methods. Specifically, an islanding operation field experiment was implemented on the side of PV power stations in Kaitai Line, Jilin Province. The impact of unplanned islanding operation on the power grid and the operation of various protection devices are reviewed from the perspective of engineering. Finally, some meaningful conclusions are drawn from the experimental results.
