Advanced Hybrid Grid with Anti-Theft Alert and Fault Detection

The utility providers are estimated to lose billions of dollars annually due to non-technical losses, typically energy theft. To alleviate losses due to electricity thefts and smart meter tampering, utility providers are leveraging various techniques implemented in advanced grids to identify the possible defect in the line. This paper intends to integrate the concepts of efficient hybrid power generation, advanced grid, fault detection, and protection systems and electrical pilferage in a power system and utilize them to create an operational miniature of an "Advanced Hybrid Grid" which combines the previously mentioned concepts into a single model and also allows real-time data and status access using advanced technology like wireless radio transmission or Radio Frequency(RF).
