Design and Experiment of Transverse Driving Oscillator for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Gyroscopes

Transverse driving oscillator is the key part in the close loop control of a nuclear magnetic resonance gyroscope. Architecture of hardware for the transverse driving oscillator based on FPGA and DSP for bio-isotope NMRGs is proposed. The transverse driving oscillator is realized by DDS with an external OCXO clock as the reference clock. Experiments were carried out to verify the performance of the transverse driving oscillator. It is shown that the frequency resolution of the transverse driving oscillators are (0.02±0.029)mHz (±3σ). Real time frequency variation with continuous phase operation is achieved. Harmonics of higher orders are well suppressed with the attenuation in magnitude about 60dB .
