Performance Analysis of FHRP in a VLAN Network with STP

The important aspect of modern computer networking is uninterrupted and irreversible service. With the increase in customer demand to design a complex network, topology is more important to assure that communications networks can synthesize and scale to the requirements. This research is focused on recovering the link and device failure as well as reducing the collision of data through the links. Here the performance of STP and FHRP, including HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP, has been analyzed. Failure of any port or simple link can't be accepted, and it may cause significant harm to the network of any important institution. A network topology has been proposed in this research for multiple VLANs with Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and Fast Hop Redundancy Protocol (FHRP), focusing on these problems. The results imply that the failure of any devices does not affect the network. It is also observed that HSRP consumes less time than the other two protocols for both link failure and no failure, so the packet rate is even higher for HSRP.
