Modeling of bus transport operative planning tasks

The aim of the operative planning process is to offer a quality of service for the passengers while, on the other hand, the costs for setting up and running the bus transport should be low. Due to the growing labor shortage, it is critical that the planning and scheduling of bus transport operation should be optimized. Thanks to the increased processing capabilities today, enterprises should be able to use advanced optimization methods. This paper briefly examines the scheduling of bus fleet vehicles and drivers and presents a solution method based on a combined optimization model with a quick overview of the well-known solver applications.
