An Automatic Test Data Generation Method for Microservice Application

The microservice architecture is the new generation of distributed software system architecture. The traditional testing approach, in which test cases are created manually, is not sufficient to meet the testing requirements of a microservice application. In this paper, an automatic test data generation method is proposed. Firstly, the extended service interface description file is designed to improve the expression ability of interface. Next, according to the different complex types of parameters, the main procedure, key technologies and implementation methods of the test data generation are presented. Furthermore, an improved pairwise algorithm is described especially for the combined parameter so as to reduce the count of test data. Finally, the experiments prove that this method is feasible and effective. In conclusion, this research is helpful to improve the test efficiency, achieve effective management and enhance the software test ability of the SGCC (State Grid Corporation of China).
