Comparison of experimental and computational analysis of superconducting stack demagnetization in an electrical motor

Stacks of superconducting tapes (RE)BCO can trap high values of magnetic flux density making it a promising alternative of conventional magnets. Such stacks can be very practical since it can be magnetized by pulse field method. These latter are prone to demagnetization by the presence of a time varying field. In electrical motors, different levels of fields can be created from the presence of a salient magnetic circuit or from the harmonics generated by the armature windings during operation. To study such a phenomenon, we performed a demagnetization experiment on a stack in an electrical machine. In this work we aim to analyze the demagnetization of the superconducting stack in an electrical motor and compare the results with experimental measurements.
