Photovoltaics in MENA region: Energetic, environmental, and economic potential

This study focuses on the assessment of the energetic, economic, and environmental performances of 160MW-PV installations in 5 cities from MENA region. It is shown that the region that has the most important energy produced and capacity factor is Marrakech with an annual energy produced of 3.01×10⁸ kWh and capacity factor 21.47%. The less affordable cost of electricity is reached in Doha with a LCOE of 10.69c$/kWh. Finally, it is shown that the most important quantity of CO₂ avoided is attained in Lybia as 246105.1 tons.
