Using Hybrid PSO for solving EELD Problem

This paper offers a novel technique using HPSO method for solving the emission and economic load dispatch (E&ELD) problem. The detrimental environmental effects caused by the emission of noxious gases and particulate from fossil fuel power plants can be mitigated to some extent by proper load allocation among the several generating units. However, it is essential to find out a solution that gives a sensible balance between emission and operating cost of the generating units. In this paper, HPSO method is used to obtain a balanced generation plan of a thermal power plant.The results are obtained for a test system with 6-generating units, 26 buses, and 46 transmission lines. The practicability of the method is established by comparing it with the conventional PSO and GA method in terms of the computational efficiency and the quality of solution.
