Rrefuse-derived Fuels (RDF) Analysis for Energy Generation and its usage in various Sectors

Nowadays, environmental pollution, energy deficiency and an increasing need for energy as well as insufficient land are considered as the main global issues. Due to exponential growth of earth’ population, urbanization and consumerism, one of the main environmental contaminants and land occupational factor is municipal solid waste (MSW), which deteriorates gradually owing to old methods like burying or waste disposal in landfills.On the other hand, it is more likely to generate clean and renewable energy by MSW processing and transfer them into refuse-derived fuels (RDF) with high thermal quality and value. RDF is a non-hazardous fuel with closed carbon cycle which can be used to meet the energy requirements in industries and different types of power plants. In the current research, however, the main purpose is to study and analyze various techniques of RDF production and consumption, to explain RDF usage in cement industry, power plants and energy extraction technologies, and in the end, to illustrate the effects and consequences of replacing harmful fossil fuels such as coal with RDF.
