Continuous Wave Diffuse Optical Tomography for Imaging Defect in Agricultural

Diffuse optical tomography is a novel non-invasive modality using near-infrared light source as a signal input for investigating optical parameters within the soft tissue. The purpose of this study is to image optical properties with continuous wave approach. Tikhonov regularization is proposed to reconstruct the distribution of absorption and reduced scattering coefficient stably inside the model. The work within this study applies diffuse optical image reconstruction algorithm based on the diffusion equation, and involve the forward problem and inverse solution. Numerical simulations are conducted for modeling the circular array by giving radii variations of defect and ten measurement nodes to be tested. Moreover, the model is simulated with different optical properties between background and defect. In addition, the simulation is computed with three different defect positions and sizes. The results indicate that continuous wave-diffuse optical tomography is effectively to monitor defect and can be applied for agricultural and plantation especially for vegetable and fruit.
