Impact of Indigenous Military Production on Saudi Arabian Economy

Saudi Arabia is a member of G20 and a major partner of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Being the largest exporter of oil and having distinctive strategic geographic location, Saudi Arabia can be viewed as the economic power of the region. Saudi Arabia is also the largest importer of arms and the third largest military spender after United States and China. Saudi does also produce some military hardware on its soil. The aim of this article is to analyze the capabilities of Saudi Arabia to review the indigenous military capabilities and explore the possibilities to expand manufacturing of its indigenous military hardware and gauge the impact of military expending on its economy.
