A Review of Brain Computer Interface Spellers

Brain computer interface spellers are facilitating disabled persons in reviving their social life. However, it has a big challenge ofperformance. Moreover, spelling is one of the earliest medical applications of brain computer interfacing (BCI). Researchers have developed numerous BCI-spellers in the past decade based on P300 event related potential (ERP), steady-state visual evoked potentials (SSVEP), and motor imagery (MI). Therefore, this paper purports a review of the available BCIs, their virtues, challenges, current and future trends. Furthermore, it helps first hand users in picking out an appropriate speller and gives a good idea to new researchers by knowing imperfections in recent developed spellers.
