IEEE C37.20.7 Guide for Testing Switchgear Rated up to 52KV for Internal Arcing Faults - Important Changes to the new Edition: Copyright Material IEEE, Paper No. PCIC-2018-05

The guide for arc fault testing was revised to include both changes to the basic testing procedure and additional equipment types. The addition of these new equipment types has introduced new ratings and requires alterations to the basic arc fault test procedure. This paper discusses the test procedure changes, compares the new procedure to the previous revision, adds clarification to the ratings, and provides insight for why the changes were necessary. It is imperative that the users of arc resistant equipment fully understand these changes and how they could affect their installation considerations and on-going personnel safety program.
