Effect of Optical Attocells Deployment on the RMSD Spread in Indoor Visible Light Communication Systems

Due to the capacity crunch, intersymbol interference (ISI) and other constraints in radio frequency (RF), VLC has been considered as a promising technology to mitigate these problems, it has a free license, wide bandwidth, low power consumption as well as immunity to ISI. This paper aims to reduce RMSD spread and evaluate its performance at different SAAHP. In this paper, four topologies of optical attocells deployment in an indoor VLC system are investigated, which included four, five, nine and sixteen optical attocells in the typical room. The effect of different topologies on the horizontal illuminance and RMSD spread are studied and compared. The result shows that the minimum average RMSD spread of 0.0053 and 0.1375 ns is achieved at SAAHP10° and 70° respectively by our proposed five optical attocells. Also, an acceptable illumination level is obtained which is satisfied the illumination requirements.
