CPW-fed Broadband Slot Antenna with Notching Patch for DTV Signal Reception

This paper presents a wide-band antenna for receiving the signal from the digital television (DTV) broadcast stations in Thailand. Such the antenna was designed for operating frequency bandwidth of 470 MHz - 862 MHz by using the concept of Coplanar Waveguide (CPW)-fed structure, in which the rectangular fed-patch of CPW is notched in form of three adjacent small slots on each side of patch for enlarging its bandwidth. Afterward such the proposed structure was calculated by using CST simulation and verified with the experiment in laboratory, the antenna designed could provide the impedance bandwidth about 102.68% (3 6 3 .3 MHz - 1,130 MHz) of operated frequency, covering the DTV bandwidth in Thailand at the present and in the future. Whereas the absolute gains of antenna over the DTV bandwidth are around 5.51 dB, 5.25 dB and 5.98 dB of the operation frequencies at 470 MHz, 666 MHz and 862 MHz, respectively.
