Design of Compact Coplanar Band Stop Filter Composed on Open Loop Ring Resonator and Defected Ground Structure (DGS)

This paper proposes the designing of Band-Stop Filter using defected ground structures (DGS) for coplanar waveguide and open-loop ring resonator. The designed coplanar open-loop ring resonator is being examined in the stop band ranging 3.9 to 4.3GHz and it has three transmission zeroes in stop band and two symmetrical poles observed on its either ways. A rectangular DGS slot is then added in designed loop ring of Band-Stop Filter for improving the stop and pass band parameters. The equivalent circuit representation for improved Band-Stop Filter gives stop-band from 3.752 to 5.32 GHz and has 2 transmission zeroes of greater than -20dB rejection. The measured outcomes are in line with the simulation outcome.
