A Unit Commitment Model with Demand Response Considering Nuclear Power Participation in Peak Load Regulation

Large-scale wind power connected to the power system has brought great challenges to economic operation. This paper presents a unit commitment model with demand response considering nuclear power participation in peak load regulation in order to enhance the capacity of wind power absorption and ensure the economic operation of the power system. This model includes a flexible peak load regulation model part on the premise of meeting the safety constrains of nuclear power units and a demand response model part based on price elasticity, both of them can participate in peak load regulation and valley filling. By increasing the flexibility of power generation on supply side and power consumption on demand side, the new model improve the load regulation capability, reduce the curtailment of renewable power and improve the economy of power system operation. At the same time, an improved limit scenario method is used to express the uncertainty of wind power in confidence interval by using a certain wind power prediction scenario and two limit scenarios, which simplifies the complexity and optimizes the reserve capacity. Examples show that the proposed model has a certain theoretical and practical significance.
