Distribution of Meteorological Elements related to Conductor Icing at Southwest of China

Air temperature, precipitation, humidity, and wind speed are related to the severity of conductor icing. In this paper, the distribution map of minimum air temperature, maximum precipitation, maximum humidity, and maximum wind speed in winter have been developed at southwest of China, with the aim of understanding the conductor icing characteristics. Due to the fact that the observed meteorological elements at southwest of China are limited, we utilize the re-analysis data generated by European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. By utilizing the Gumbel I extreme value distribution model, we calculated extreme values of meteorological elements in a specific recurrence period, which are 30a, 50a, and 100a. The analysis of the minimum temperature, maximum precipitation, maximum humidity and maximum wind speed in winter under a specific recurrence period shows that OHLs at Tibet and Western Sichuan may suffers from icing issues. As a result, we should pay attention to the conductor icing at related area to operate OHLs more safety.
