A Study on the Setup and Inspection Techniques of Optical Fiber System

This study aims to discuss the architecture, setup and inspection techniques of optical fiber network systems in Taiwan. The common optical fiber network system architecture and the setup of passive optical network (PON), active optical network (AON), synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH), and reconfigurable optical add drop multiplexer (ROADM) are first introduced in details. The line inspection technique and online inspection process are further explained. The inspection data acquired from the experiment are provided for optical fiber network maintenance personnel solving users' problems and maintenance. The inspection technique of optical cable automatic monitoring system (OCAMS) is then explained to stabilize the quality of optical cable transmission in the complicated optical fiber network system, rapidly complete the optimal demand for current use of optical fiber network, and promote the service quality and use quality for network users.
