Performance Analysis of terrestrial FSO link using different scintillation models and modulation schemes

FSO is wireless point to point communication and for successful communication transceivers should be in line of sight with each other where free space could be vacuum, space etc. Medium has great significance on the transmission of signal due to different factors like, rain, physical obstacles and turbulence affecting the performance of the link. In today's scenario, communication in terrain is adversely affected by fading due to turbulence. This paper focuses on performance analysis of log normal and gamma-gamma scintillation models with different modulation formats like NRZ/RZ/CSRZ/Duo binary. If the path of propagation is longer, then log normal model is considered to have fragile turbulence condition, whereas gamma-gamma model has weak to strong turbulence condition.
