A Two-element Array with Clover-leaf Shaped Antennas for X-band Applications

A two-element array with Clover-leaf shaped fractal antennas has been reported in this paper. The proposed single element is designed to operate in X-band with the center frequency (f_r) of 8.50 GHz for the application of satellite communication. The single element is consists of eight number of scaled circles with seven number of elliptical slots generating from a center circle and the entire geometry looks like a four-leaf Clover. The slots are helps to resonate the structure at desired frequency to obtain reasonable gain and bandwidth from the proposed structure. To obtain improved parametric results, a linear array with Wilkinson equal power divider has been designed. The single element and the array maintain a gain of 7.05 and 9.51 dBi respectively. The obtained absolute bandwidth and the radiation efficiency of the proposed antenna and the array are able to fulfill the requirement for the satellite application.
