Fractional Order Controller Design for Load Frequency Control of Single Area and Two Area System

In this paper two type of power system i.e. Single area and Two area systems are consider for the load frequency control analysis. In each system non-reheated thermal turbine is used. In the secondary loop of each systems first we have used fractional order PID controller (FOPID) and then PID controller and a comparison is done between these two controller performances. To find the optimized value of both controllers gains parameter we use a Meta heuristic algorithm called Moth Flame Optimization (MFO). After the comparison for settling time, peak over shoot and oscillation of frequency deviation and tie line power of both type of system in can be conclude that FOPID controller is better controller then PID controller.
