Reactive Power Based Speed Control of Induction Motor Drive using Fuzzy Logic for Industrial Applications

The induction motor is largely used in many industrial applications due to its various properties and its precise variable speed operation. A variety of control algorithm such as direct torque control (DTC), field oriented control (FOC) etc. have been industrialized so far; however necessary precisions are supplementary for better and efficient speed control operations. This paper presents a unique reactive power based speed control of induction motor drive for wide speed range applications. This approach incorporates the control of reactive power curving in and out of the machine for speed control of induction machine using fuzzy logic. Expressively this approach not only recuperates the integration of complex flux estimators, observers etc. but more importantly the desired power factor operation is obtained. To validate the proposed scheme, the MATLAB simulation and experimental analysis for lhp induction machine is presented in this paper.
