Multifunctional Capabilities of Power Converter in a Three Phase Four Wire Grid Interactive PV System

This study involves a two stage three phase four wire configuration of a grid connected solar PV system to mitigate various issues related to the power quality at the point of interconnection. It involves a two-step control involving MPPT operation and a current control algorithm for the voltage source converter. The control used here is a modified version of the least mean square algorithm, which has a better response in comparison to the conventional LMS algorithm. The system is studied under various dynamic conditions including varying the solar insolation abruptly, unbalancing of the load and under abnormal conditions in the grid voltage. Experimental results are also presented that validate the accuracy of the control.
