Hazard Assessment modelling for the Target end Control room of Penta track Dynamic Trial Facility

Test and evaluation of various kinds of armament and missile systems by means of static and dynamic firing are the important testing criteria during the product development. The four kilometer long penta track dynamic trial facility is extremely useful for the testing and evaluation of various critical armament and missile systems. There is a requirement of constructing an additional control room near the target end along the tracks. For the safe conduct of these dynamic trials, it is necessary to ensure the safe design and location of this control room to with stand the accidental detonation of the trial store at the time of dynamic trials. The necessary safety parameters like blast pressure level, structural damage levels, safety quantity distances were obtained from the scientific modelling using the highly sophisticated modelling software called HEXDAM (High Explosive Damage Assessment Modelling). This paper explains the necessary modelling done for this case and elaborates the detailed analysis carried out for providing the safety clearance for constructing the new control room.
