Alpha and Beta Sub-waves Patterns when Evoked by External Stressor and Entrained by Binaural Beats Tone

The brain, which consists of four lobes, is responsible for the organization and governor of physical activities and the interpretation of information from the cognitive activities. Among the four lobes, frontal lobe is the best connected with emotion and behavior and it is highly sensitive to stress effect. Understanding the cognitive functions associated with frontal lobes, researchers also have studied extensively the relationship between EEG frontal lobes with emotions and stress. Many researchers in investigating the relation they have with relax and stress emotions have utilized Alpha and Beta sub-waves, also known as fast waves. Brainwave entrainment is the ability to alter brainwaves and states of consciousness in order to produce positive effects on the psychological and physiological condition of a human being. Hence, this study focuses on the effects of the traffic noise and the Binaural Beats on the Alpha Beta Frontal Energy Ratio (ABFER) feature utilizing the Energy Spectral Density (ESD) of the EEG brainwaves. Box plot is employed to observe the pattern of the selected EEG features. It can be observed that the Alpha sub-wave decrease when the subjects exposed to the noises and it increases after they have been entrained by the Binaural Beat tones. On contrary, Beta sub-wave increase when the subjects listen to the noise and decrease when the subjects have been entrained by the Binaural Beat tones.
