Investigate an Optimal Energy Rendering Approach from Lightning Return Stroke

In this modern day, the world is standing in the face of energy crisis thus, subsequently a sustainable energy source is needed to contribute and help to overcome this energy crisis. Lightning return stroke is being thought of as one of the solutions to this crisis and can be used as a renewable energy resource. However, until this moment, a large-scale system to harvest lightning return stroke energy is still not ready for the implementation. This new source of renewable energy would contribute towards the energy crisis but it is quite challenging and the main problem in harvesting energy from return stroke is the capturing and storage of energy in a very short period. The main objective of this research was to develop a simulation-based system for the detection and storage of energy from lightning and to perform the simulation of mock lightning signal. Lightning signal then went through a switch to the storage capacitor in PSpice software and simulate the infrasonic detection system using LabVIEW software. The simulation results performed an understanding of how to produce impulse voltage like the ones from a lightning stroke. Besides, it can also be confirmed that the circuit utilized for fast switching is fit for holding and maintaining the incoming impulse voltage from a return stroke.
