A Study On Effect of Different Control Strategies on Q-f Droop Islanding Detection Technique

An investigation on the effect of various control strategies on Q-f droop based islanding detection technique (IDT) is presented. The IDT operates by increasing or decreasing the frequency beyond the set limits by injecting reactive power into the system. The technique is proposed for constant real-reactive power inverter control. The effect of control strategies like constant current (CC), constant Power-voltage (PV) control are not studied so far. In this paper the effect of various control strategies on Q-f droop based islanding scheme is analyzed. The Simulations are performed in RTDS/RSCAD domain on a UL1741 standard test system.
