Research on Pilot-Based Channel Estimation Algorithms

Wireless communication technology has greatly expanded time scale and space scale of communication, breaking the physical limitations and shackles of wired communication. With the increasing amount of data and the demand for faster transmission rate, the accuracy of channel estimation in communication systems is becoming more stringent. In this paper, pilot-based channel estimation algorithms for OFDM systems are studied. The advantages of pilot-based channel estimation are described. The channel estimation algorithms based on least squares (LS), least mean square error (MMSE) and linear minimum error (LMMSE) are studied and simulated respectively. The results show that the signal-to-noise ratio of MMSE algorithm is better than LS algorithm, but the computational load is too large. The LMMSE algorithm reduces the computational load while ensuring relative accuracy, and has the best performance among the three algorithms. But in practical application, LS algorithm is still the main method.
