Highly Isolated Two Elements MIMO Antenna with Band-Notched Characteristics for UWB Applications

This paper presents high performance two elements MIMO antenna to be operated for ultra-wide band applications. The MIMO antenna structure comprises of two shaped identical rad iators placed beside each other on the same substrate. The antenna composed of monopole antenna with tapered transition between the feeder and the radiating patch to obtain ultra-wide band feature from 2.6 GHz upto 12.5 GHz. Moreover, the proposed antenna produces band-notched behaviour from 5 GHz to 6 GHz by embedded open loop slot in the radiator to minimize interference with the other WLAN systems. lowering the mutual coupling between the MIMO components is accomplished by adding simple rectangular stub between the two radiators. The structure suggested is designed and measured. The MIMO UWB antenna has reflection coefficient below −10 dB within the UWB range. The transmission and correlation coefficients have values lower than −20 dB and 0.001, respectively. As well as the MIMO antenna has good omnidirectional radiation pattern with good matching between practical and simulation results.
