Evaluation of Electric Vehicles Dispatching Potential Considering Multiple Travel Needs

With the explosive growth of electric vehicles (EVs), disordered charging behaviors of household EVs may have a significant effect on the smart grid operation. To evaluate the dispatching potential of massive EVs' charging load precisely can help system operators make rational market mechanism to call EV resources for economic and secure planning and operation. A relatively accurate method to evaluate dispatching potential of EVs is proposed here, offsetting the shortcomings of previous research, neglecting the correlation of different travel parameters and user's multiple travel needs. From the angle of household EV users' daily trip behaviors, especially traveling several times a day, the probability distribution models of random travel parameters (i.e. trip start-time, end-time and distance of trips, etc.) are fitted according to an industrial survey. Considering the charging characteristics of EV battery and the coupling characteristics of multiple parameters, random values are generated based on copula function, to simulate the expectation of EVs disordered charging load within a residential community. Considering the multi-period load shifting ratio and willingness of users under electricity price mechanism, the dispatching potential of EVs under certain willingness is quantitatively evaluated. The simulation shows that reasonable and meticulous evaluation of EVs dispatching potential considering multiple travel needs is significant for effectively guiding the orderly charging of EVs and suppressing the peak-valley load difference.
