Pressure Simulation and Experimental Study of GIS/GIL Disc Insulators

In order to improve efficiency and accuracy of the hydraulic simulation for disc insulators, the mechanical constitutive equations parameters of epoxy resin and rubber material were measured, and the hydraulic simulation model considering the sealing ring was established in this paper. The simulation results show that the contact pressure between the disc insulator and the lower flange reaches about 1.5×10⁷Pa, while the contact pressure between the seal ring and the middle flange is below 1.246×10⁶Pa, which means that the disc insulator is mainly supported by the lower flange. Ignoring the influence of the sealing ring, the upper flange and the middle flange, a simplified simulation model was established. The results of the two models were about the same, but the efficiency of the simplified model was improved by 55 times. The simulation strategy for product development is proposed: the simulation model considering sealing ring is used to optimize the shape of the sealing groove and the flange structure. Then keep the structure unchanged, and the simple simulation model is established to optimize the main part of the disk insulator. Finally, the results of hydraulic strain measurement show that the simulation and measurement results are consistent, and the maximum relative error is 5.1%, which proves the rationality of the simulation method.
